Description

Sunspots (20230709) - straight forward session

Hottest time of the year 2023 beginning today, following the predictions. Thanks to the temperature raise less clouds evolve because warm air can hold more moisture than cold air.

Cloudless sky here, in the Alps and over our mountains. At 10am (CEST) the Sun is high enough over the valley's east side mountains and the beautiful huge oak tree. I carry everything out and set it up, shutting down the home WiFi and start Astroberry (RasPi4) in hotspot mode.

I tend to use this more often than before. I'm actually practicing this to internalize the process and establish a solid routine for it, e.g. setting up location, date and time manually over VNC, so the mount can capture these values when I launch KStars / Ekos / INDI.

I don't have and don't want a GPS for this purpose - one less tool needing cables and power supply and a server to talk to. If there were a simple way to connect may smartphone to Astroberry so that it captures these values from the phone, I would certainly do it - because when I'm apart from my home WiFi (mobile) I usually have the phone with me, anyway.

Title: 1.5x Drizzle scaled down to 1600px

Description: While the 'normal' version shows all the same fine detail - but narrower to each other - this drizzled version makes it easier to recognize fine features.
